On July 31, in the Round of 16 for the men’s singles table tennis event at the Paris Olympics, Fan Zhendong faced off against Wong Chun Ting from Hong Kong, China.
In the first game, Fan Zhendong quickly got into his rhythm, building a commanding lead with a 7-1 run. Although Wong Chun Ting narrowed the gap to 5-8 at one point, Fan Zhendong made adjustments and secured the win with an 11-5 score.
The second game saw Fan Zhendong continue his strong performance, starting with a 4-0 run and repeating the 11-5 scoreline to extend his lead to 2-0.
In the third game, Wong Chun Ting scored first. Despite trailing 0-4, Fan Zhendong fought back, but Wong Chun Ting maintained a lead of at least two points and took the game point. Fan Zhendong saved three game points but ultimately lost 9-11.
The fourth game saw Fan Zhendong return to his dominant start, opening with a 4-0 lead. He maintained a difference of around four points throughout the game, eventually winning 11-6 and taking the match score to 3-1.
In the fifth game, Fan Zhendong started with a 5-0 lead, reaching match point at 10-3, and successfully converted his first match point, securing a 4-1 victory in the match.
