Farewell to the Championship? English Media: Manchester City May Face Severe Points Deduction Due to Financial Irregularities

In March 2023, Manchester City was accused of breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations a total of 115 times over the past decade, a development that sent shockwaves through the football world. Now, an increasing number of Premier League officials believe that Manchester City will face a harsh points deduction due to this matter, potentially even relegation to the Championship.

A senior official told The Times, “From what I’m hearing, a fitting punishment for Manchester City would be a significant points deduction, possibly around 70 to 80 points, which would relegate them to the Championship.”

The hearing for these serious allegations is set to begin next month and will last ten weeks. If found guilty, Manchester City could face the most severe points deduction in Premier League history.

To date, Manchester City has denied all these allegations but has also refused to make further comments.
