In a recent match, Cristiano Ronaldo scored an impressive free-kick for Al Nassr, bringing his career goal tally to 899. The Portuguese superstar is approaching the milestone of 900 goals and plans to eventually reach the astounding mark of 1,000 goals.
During an interview with former Manchester United teammate Rio Ferdinand, Ronaldo spoke about his goals and seemingly implied some legendary players including Pele, Eusebio, and Di Stefano.
Ronaldo said on his YouTube channel, “I will soon reach 900 goals, and then I will surpass 1,000. My goal is to reach 1,000 goals, as long as I don’t get injured, that’s the most important thing. I believe this would be my best achievement in football. The only difference is that all of my goals are recorded on video, so I can prove them.”
Ferdinand responded with a laugh, “You’re a jerk. You’re implying Di Stefano, Pele, Eusebio.”
Ronaldo jokingly added, “If you want me to score more goals, I can count the goals from training too.”
The 39-year-old Ronaldo admitted that he might need to play until at least 41 years old to achieve the 1,000-goal target.
Ronaldo’s long-term rival and another top superstar Messi currently has a total of 838 goals.
Throughout his illustrious career, Ronaldo has scored most of his goals during his time at Real Madrid, where he netted 450 goals. Additionally, he had two stints at Manchester United and played for Juventus, Sporting Lisbon, and now Al Nassr.
Pele’s goal tally stands at 1,281, but this number includes friendlies and unofficial matches; his official goal count is 762. Ronaldo emphasized that all his goals have video evidence to support them, distinguishing himself from predecessors whose statistics are subject to debate.
