FIFA to Introduce New Rule: Players Transferring During Club World Cup Will Not Be Able to Change Teams

According to a report by the Spanish newspaper AS, FIFA has made a decision regarding the new Club World Cup (also known as the FIFA Club World Cup) scheduled for next year. If a player transfers after June 30th, they will not be allowed to represent two different teams in the Club World Cup.

FIFA announced last week that it will open an additional transfer window specifically for the Club World Cup. This window will be open from June 1st to 10th, just a few days before the start of the tournament. The purpose of this move is to ensure that teams have sufficient players available for the competition.

Meanwhile, FIFA hopes that players whose contracts expire on June 30th will reach agreements with their clubs – even if they are short-term agreements – to stay until after the Club World Cup is over.

June 30th is typically the end date for contracts between clubs and players, but the Club World Cup extends beyond this date, running from June 15th to July 13th.

In any case, FIFA will not permit a player to represent two different teams in the same Club World Cup, even if they transfer during the tournament.

Alphonso Davies is likely to become a typical example of this. His contract with Bayern Munich expires on June 30th next year, and Real Madrid hopes to sign him after his contract with Bayern ends. According to FIFA’s new rule, he will only be able to choose to play for one team in the tournament.
