In the fourth round of La Liga, Rafinha scored a hat-trick, helping Barcelona achieve a 7-0 victory over Valladolid at home. After the match, Barcelona head coach Flick gave an interview to the media.
Flick said: “We are playing our fourth game, and our goal is to win all four games before the break. The players have done very well. I am pleased that the fans can show such support, but this is the result of the team’s hard work. I can say that when we go out to eat, the people we encounter are very friendly towards us, which gives us a lot of energy. Our atmosphere is very good, and our mentality is great. The coaching staff, fitness coaches, and doctors are all working tirelessly to make the team better. We are like a family.”
“When you feel the support of the fans, you experience something special, there really is a special feeling on the pitch. When we attack, it is for another goal. This is good and makes the fans proud, and that is our goal.”
“I am proud. The situation is good for me because the fans are happy, but we still have a lot of work to do until the end of the season. These rest days will be good for the coaching staff. I hope the international players can win their matches, as this will give them confidence. But afterwards, they should focus on Barcelona.”
Flick wanted to share the credit and mentioned Deco, who signed experts in physical training (Julio Tos, Pepe Conte, and Rafa Maldonado) this summer, while also praising the team’s medical staff: “At the start of the pre-season, we analyzed everything. I want to thank Deco for bringing in big experts in training. The medical team is also excellent. This also gives the players confidence, knowing they are in good hands. Knowing they are well-trained and able to give their all for 90 minutes gives them great strength.”
Flick also talked about individual players, such as Dani Olmo: “I know him very well, having faced him in the Bundesliga. He is very good, and when he plays in midfield, his connection with Pedri is also very good. We also have a strong bench, with Firmin capable of playing in these positions. This helps the team.”
He also lavished praise on Rafinha, who was the MVP of the match: “I often see him play, so this does not surprise me. He needed time to complete his hat-trick, but he has the ability. His performance was outstanding. Rafinha worked hard to create space for others. He did many excellent things and is one of those players who performed exceptionally well in these four games.”
