Football Legend Honored! Brazil Establishes "Pele Day" Annually

On July 3rd, according to Argentine newspaper Ole, Brazil has recently issued a presidential decree designating November 19th as “King Pele Day.”

Brazilian soccer icon Pele passed away on December 29, 2022. It is reported that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has signed a decree establishing November 19th as a day to honor Pele, with the country celebrating the occasion annually.

The choice of November 19th is significant because on that date in 1969, Pele scored his 1000th career goal for Santos.
