Previously, Liverpool had confirmed that Dave Fallows, the club’s scouting director who has been with the club for 12 years, will be leaving his position. In this situation, Liverpool needs to find a suitable replacement.

According to the exclusive report from AnfieldWatch, Liverpool is now close to signing Markus Pilawa, the former chief scout of Dortmund and Bayern Munich.

Pilawa, 47, enjoys a high reputation in German football. He joined Borussia Dortmund as a scout in 2012 and briefly worked alongside then-Dortmund manager Jürgen Klopp. In 2017, he was promoted to chief scout. During his tenure, Pilawa helped Dortmund identify and sign several standout young talents, including Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland, and Jadon Sancho.

In the summer of 2022, Pilawa left Dortmund to join Bayern Munich, where he subsequently played a key role in securing major signings such as Harry Kane, Benjamin Lemoine, and Ousmane Dembélé, as well as overseeing the transfer of Sadio Mané to Al Nassr.

In September of this year, Pilawa left FC Bayern Munich and is currently a free agent.
