Dortmund heavily relied on Dutch full-back Mats Hummels during the winter loan, but ultimately decided against a permanent transfer due to the high fee. Hummels recently joined Aston Villa for around 45 million euros.
It was previously rumored that Dortmund had targeted Turkish international Caglar Soyuncu as a replacement for Hummels, but now it’s said that they have dropped their pursuit. According to Bild, Dortmund has been considering options at left-back but has struggled to find a suitable candidate.
Reportedly, Dortmund is now contemplating utilizing Bensebaini, who joined them on a free transfer from Borussia Mönchengladbach last season, as their starting left-back. With an outstanding left-back commanding at least 30 million euros, using the already available Bensebaini seems like a fitting solution.
