Bayern Munich had been working hard all summer to secure the signing of Paris Saint-Germain winger Simons, but their pursuit has failed. It is reported that the Dutchman has chosen to extend his loan contract with RB Leipzig. Simons, 21, spent a productive loan spell at Leipzig last season, and according to reports from Germany, a new one-year loan deal will be finalized soon.

Following Simons’ decision, the Bavarian giants are now looking to sign Doué. The 19-year-old made 43 appearances across all competitions for Rennes last season, scoring four goals and providing six assists, which has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe. In addition to Bayern Munich, there have been rumors linking a number of Premier League clubs with the youngster, and domestic French media reported a week ago that Paris Saint-Germain were also believed to be very interested.

Bayern have already shown they are willing to spend big this summer, having completed major transfers for Palinha and Olise, but it remains to be seen whether Die Roten can meet Rennes’ asking price of €60 million for Doué.
