Goal Secures US Advancement; Rodman’s Daughter: My Father Played in the NBA, I Play Football—No Pressure for Me

In the women’s football quarterfinals held on August 3 for the Paris Olympics, Japan lost 0-1 to favorites the United States during extra time, ending their run and preventing them from reaching the semifinals. The goal that secured a spot in the last four for Team USA was scored by Trinity Rodman, daughter of NBA legend Dennis Rodman.

Trinity Rodman, with her colorful hairstyle, posed multiple threats to Japan’s goal. In stoppage time just before the end of the first half of extra time, she made another high-speed run down the right flank, followed by a powerful left-footed shot that found the top-left corner of the net. After scoring, Trinity embraced her teammates in celebration. This marked her second consecutive game with a goal, and it was the decisive strike that advanced her team to the semifinals.

Trinity’s father, Dennis Rodman, is a legendary star from the NBA’s Chicago Bulls, known for his rebounding prowess and his hair dyed in various colors.

Trinity began playing football at age four. In 2021, she earned the title of “Rookie of the Year” in the U.S. Women’s League and was named to the “Best XI.” She also represented the U.S. at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. As one of the top forwards for the American team, Trinity boasts exceptional skills and physical strength. She started all four games in this Olympic tournament. Her goal in this match was her third of the Olympics, equaling the tally of the team’s leading scorer, Mallory Swanson.

After scoring the winning goal, Trinity Rodman said excitedly, “I’m really happy. I knew we were up against a technically skilled team. It was a tough match, but we finally broke through.”

Her long pink hair is reminiscent of her father’s, but she is not bothered by it. When asked after the match if she felt any pressure as Dennis Rodman’s daughter, she promptly replied, “No, never.”

“My dad played basketball, and I play football. There’s no pressure on me at all.” Despite being only 22 years old, Rodman’s daughter is already very composed.
