July 30 – Ahead of tomorrow’s 7:00 preseason friendly match between Manchester City and Barcelona, English forward Jack Grealish attended the pre-match press conference alongside his manager Pep Guardiola, responding to questions about his feelings regarding his exclusion from the Euro Cup squad.
[Not Making the Final Squad for the Euro Cup]
Grealish: To be honest, this was probably the toughest thing in my football career. I was absolutely devastated by it – “I was really heartbroken at the time, and every time I turned on my phone or TV during the holiday, that news would come up.
I felt I should have been part of the England squad for the Euro 2024. I’m sure every player who didn’t make it had the same thought… I’ve been through a lot of ups and downs, but I’ll use this as motivation for the new season, hoping to prove some people wrong.
[Manager Pep Guardiola]
I always talk with him, and he’s been very good to me over these three years – there’s hardly anyone better to learn from. Pep Guardiola is a master in this sport. His advice is something I always listen to.
[Unstable Performance Last Season]
I don’t want to sit down and make excuses. I think my performance last season was still decent. At the start of the season, I had a leg injury – the worst one I’ve ever had, which lasted four to five weeks, and then I had two groin injuries. There were also some off-the-field issues.
