Hong Myung-bo: Many Misunderstandings Stem from Lack of Communication; Will Lead the Korean National Team Forward

According to Korean media Khan, this morning, the inaugural press conference for Hong Myung-bo, the newly appointed head coach of the South Korean national football team, was held. Hong Myung-bo stated, “I will lead the national team based on the keywords of respect, communication, responsibility, and dedication.”

As the former Ulsan coach, Hong Myung-bo first apologized to Ulsan fans and K League fans, “The best way to earn forgiveness from the fans is by helping the national team improve and develop further.”

Hong Myung-bo candidly said, “South Korean football is experiencing an unprecedented surge in talent. Whether it’s in terms of results or the future development of the national team, a clear direction and correct system need to be established. I will adopt a humble attitude, listening more to the advice and guidance of fans and football professionals, leading the team forward to the best of my abilities.”

In addition, Hong Myung-bo also mentioned, “I will maintain close contact with the players and clarify our respective responsibilities. In fact, many misunderstandings arise from a lack of communication; I will have open and honest conversations with the players.”

Regarding his coaching style, Hong Myung-bo stated, “When we have possession, we need to increase our forward momentum and decisiveness. When transitioning from defense to attack, I will push forward firmly and reduce defensive time.”
