ING Notes: Bellingham Venting Frustration and Requesting Substitutions During the Final, Followed by Kane's Substitution

July 16 – According to the latest scoop from ESPN’s UK journalist Mark Ogden, during England’s 1-2 loss to Spain in the Euro Cup final, midfielder Jude Bellingham vented his frustration at manager Gareth Southgate and demanded substitutions. Shortly after this incident, team captain Harry Kane was substituted.

The journalist reports that before Harry Kane was taken off, Bellingham approached the touchline and called out loudly to Southgate, expressing his dissatisfaction, “Do something! Make a change!” Clearly, the midfielder influenced some of the manager’s substitution decisions.

The reporter then explained, “Harry Kane is only 30 years old and performed exceptionally well in the Bundesliga last season, but clearly, he was not at his best in this match. By that stage, he was completely unable to move, allowing Spain’s midfield and defense to easily bypass his attempts to defend.”

After Harry Kane was substituted, substitutes Ollie Watkins and Ian Poveda combined well with Bellingham up front and helped England equalize, although they were unable to hold on for a draw in the final moments.

Following the loss of the championship, the 20-year-old midfielder was clearly unhappy with the result. Before leaving the pitch, he kicked over a water cooler on the sidelines.
