Iniesta: Yamar’s talent is rare in football, I’d be open to returning to Barça

In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Andrés Iniesta discussed several topics related to Barcelona, including the emergence of Raming Yamar and Nico Williams, Xavi’s situation, and the signing of Kylian Mbappé by Real Madrid. He also mentioned that someone in his family aspires to reach his level in football.

What’s your opinion on 16-year-old Raming Yamar?

“Situations like his are relatively uncommon in football, which is why he’s considered an exception, a special case with extraordinary talent. He’s an incredibly gifted player, and he’s just starting out. The key is for him to keep learning, progressing, and maintaining continuity. He’s only 16, not 23.”

What do you think of Nico Williams?

“He’s young, but his performances have attracted interest from top clubs.”

How do you see Barça and your friend Xavi’s situation?

“From the outside, I don’t want to comment too much. It hurts when the club goes through setbacks or difficulties. When these involve former teammates or friends, the pain can be more profound because of emotional ties. I hope Barça maintains consistency and strength to compete for all titles. It’s hard to say more since I’m not there.”

Are you worried about Real Madrid signing Mbappé?

“Real Madrid’s squad and recent performances give them security and confidence, but it doesn’t help to constantly look at them. People at Barça will work to bring in the best players for the club’s growth.”

Can you imagine yourself returning to Barça?

“Of course, I would be open to it, but I’m not sure when.”

What could you contribute to the club?

“My next step after retiring might be coaching, seeing if it’s viable. It’s about finding my place off the pitch.”

Can you see yourself as a coach?

“I don’t know, maybe in two years, I’ll have a clearer idea, but for now, I’m not sure.”

Could you envision coaching the first team?

“Yes, but I don’t have my coaching license yet.”

Can you imagine a member of your family reaching the top level?

“My 9-year-old son Paolo is very passionate about football and has shown some talent for his age.”
