On July 18, following the loss in the Euro Cup final, Southgate recently resigned from his position as head coach of England. According to English media outlet The Sun, former German head coach Joachim Löw is interested in managing England.
The 64-year-old Löw led his German team to victory at the 2014 Brazil World Cup and served as national team head coach for 15 years.
So far, several candidates have been associated with the position of head coach for the English national team, including Eddie Howe, Tuchel, Potter, and Klopp. However, it’s understood that at this stage, cooperation with Tuchel and Klopp is not very realistic.
According to The Sun, Lee Carsley, head coach of the England U21 national team, is expected to take over as interim head coach from Southgate. This former Everton player is very likely to lead the Three Lions into their next international match against Ireland in less than eight weeks.
It’s worth noting that Löw’s last game as German head coach was a 0-2 loss to Southgate’s England team in the Round of 16 of the 2020 Euros at Wembley Stadium. Since then, he has been out of work.
