According to Italian Sky Sports, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has been fined over four million euros by the antitrust authority for alleged abuse of power.
The guarantor body claims that the FIGC misused its dominant position in the organization of youth competitive football matches, excluding sports promotion entities and limiting their activities in the amateur football sector.
The FIGC will appeal to the Lazio Regional Administrative Court, stating: “Based on documented arguments and flawed legal reasoning, the FIGC considers this sanction unjustified.” The Federation reiterates its “absolutely correct behavior” and announces the appeal notice, requesting the suspension of proceedings.
