Japanese Media: Takefusa Kubo's Transfer to Liverpool Enters Final Stages, Deal Could Be Struck Soon

According to the latest report from Japanese media outlet Sponichi Annex, Japanese international Takefusa Kubo is set to join Premier League side Liverpool for a transfer fee of €60 million (approximately 10.2 billion yen). It is reported that he will earn an annual salary of €15 million.

Several English sources have revealed that Kubo’s agent has recently arrived in England and negotiations are now in the final stages of settling details, with an agreement possibly imminent.

According to insiders, Kubo is also very enthusiastic about joining Liverpool and has already started learning English, with his sights set on playing in the Premier League. Additionally, having his Japan national team teammate Wataru Endo at Liverpool is seen as a positive factor in Kubo’s transfer.

Kubo is said to be Liverpool’s biggest reinforcement target this summer window as they hope he can become the successor to Mohamed Salah.

However, there has been no confirmation from foreign media regarding the rumors of Kubo’s transfer, and the Japanese media’s arguments are largely based on “according to sources.”

The 23-year-old Takefusa Kubo, who plays primarily on the right flank, came through the youth system at Kawasaki Frontale before embarking on a career abroad early on. He went to La Masia for systematic training in 2011 and then joined Real Madrid on a free transfer in 2019. In 2022, he was sold to Real Sociedad for €6.5 million, making a total of 85 appearances, scoring 16 goals, and providing 14 assists for the club.
