Journalist Damien Delaney believes that Manchester United’s problems go beyond head coach Erik ten Hag.
In a football podcast, Delaney shared his thoughts on the current state of Manchester United. He believes that a poor culture has developed within the United camp, and the team completely fell apart when they lost 0-3 at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Delaney said, “There is no dynamism in the Manchester United squad. The players they sign either can’t run or are unwilling to run. It’s very difficult for a coach now. Players are like racehorses, you know, they are bred for a specific purpose.”
“This is why Liverpool and other teams wouldn’t sign players like Garnacho, no matter how talented they are, because they don’t fit the team’s pressing game requirements. I know it’s a strange example, but you need to sign players who fit your philosophy. Manchester United first needs to figure out what kind of football they want to play.”
