On July 29, U.S. men’s basketball head coach Steve Kerr told reporters that Jayson Tatum will play in the game against South Sudan.
Kerr said, “Jayson Tatum is going to play in the game against South Sudan. I’m not going to answer your next question, which is if he plays, who doesn’t play. But we need him. Part of my job is getting everybody involved and ready because my experience has been that crazy things happen.”
Kerr continued, “The toughest part of this job is that you have at least a few world-class players around you who are some of the best players on the planet. On one hand, it makes no sense, and on the other hand, I ask these guys to just focus on winning one game and then moving on to the next. I have to do the same thing. So I felt like last night’s lineup made the most sense.”
