Kovacic: We Miss Rodri a Lot, There Are No Easy Games in the Premier League

In the seventh round of the Premier League, “Rodri’s replacement” Kovacic scored twice, ultimately helping Manchester City narrowly win 3-2 against Fulham at home.

Since arriving in England in August 2018, Kovacic has played 275 games for Chelsea and Manchester City. In Manchester City’s 3-2 victory over Fulham, this was his first time scoring twice in one game out of these 275 matches.

Kovacic said in an interview after the game: “This was a tough match, just like every game in the Premier League. We always say there are no easy games. We had the upper hand at the start but couldn’t score, and we responded quickly after conceding. Ultimately, we won, which is a hard-fought victory against a team in good form, so it’s great for us to keep winning.”

“Currently, I’m playing in midfield, of course, we need to make up for Rodri’s absence, we miss him a lot. I think any team would miss a player like him, we hope he recovers quickly and returns in as good a condition as possible. Now we must adapt, and of course, the coach has many options, so we can rotate players.”

“My second goal? The coach told us to stay around the penalty area because the ball will always come there. I was lucky to be there, Bernardo Silva gave me a good pass, I controlled the ball well, and my shot was also good. Winning the game is always important, regardless of who scores, the most important thing is getting three points. Now we hope to maintain this momentum.”
