In the first round of Group C in the Copa América, Pulisic scored within just under 3 minutes, giving the US team a dream start.
According to statistics, Pulisic’s goal came at the 142nd second, making it the fastest goal in his entire career (for both club and country). His previous personal record was also set in a national team match, against Chile in 2019, where he scored after 206 seconds.
Individually, this is Pulisic’s 30th goal for the US national team, making him the sixth American player, after Dempsey, Donovan, Altidore, Wynalda, and McBride, to reach the milestone of 30 goals for the national side. It’s also the first time in his career that he has scored 20 goals in a single season (for both club and country).
Furthermore, Pulisic’s goal is the fastest by the US team in an official match (34th appearance) against a CONMEBOL opponent. It’s also the second-quickest goal by a non-South American team in Copa América history, only behind Costa Rica’s goal against Colombia in 2016 (89 seconds).
