Lingard: I Came to Korea with a Relaxed Mindset, but Found the K League Much Tougher than Expected

Lingard: I Came to Korea with a Relaxed Mindset, but Found the K League Much Tougher than Expected

According to South Korean media NAVER, FC Seoul player Jesse Lingard appeared at the Seoul media day, where he discussed his impressions of the season and plans for the remaining three matches.

About the Season

I believe we have achieved our team goals. Looking back at the first half of the season, we had a terrible period with five consecutive home losses. The match against Ulsan was a turning point. After that, our desire to win became stronger, and we played well in every subsequent game, which boosted our confidence. In the playoffs, we lost to Gangwon first, then beat Suwon. Our next opponent is Pohang, and this match is very important.

About the Next Two Home Games

There were many unforgettable moments when I first arrived in Korea. So many fans came to welcome me and showed their love and support. Even in the first match, more than 50,000 people came to support us. What surprised me was that even away games saw a large number of Seoul fans. I want to show them our championship-level strength, so I hope they will come to the stadium to support us.

About the Coach

I think he has a clear plan for every game. I adapted faster than I expected, and by mid-season, I could fully understand the coach’s intentions. The coach is good at communication and often has one-on-one conversations with me. We talk not only about football but also about life, which has built trust and confidence between us.

About Ki Sung-yueng

When I first arrived in Seoul, he gave me a lot of help. As the captain and leader, he taught me a lot. Whenever I felt awkward, he was always the first to stand up and speak on my behalf.

About the K League

To be honest, before coming here, I didn’t expect the K League to be so competitive. I believe the K League has made significant progress this season, and I am confident that we can make the league even better.
