On July 24, during the 142nd International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session held in Paris, France, a public vote was conducted regarding the proposal to host an Esports Olympic event. The IOC members unanimously approved the proposal to host the first-ever Esports Olympics in Saudi Arabia.
The official IOC statement read, “A historic vote! The 142nd IOC Session voted to approve the birth of Esports as an Olympic event. Remember this moment.”
It is reported that the first Esports Olympics will be held in Saudi Arabia in 2025. This year, Saudi Arabia hosted the inaugural Esports World Cup.
