On June 25, Olympique de Marseille officially announced that Roberto De Zerbi has reached a principle agreement to become the team’s manager for the upcoming season.
The club’s official statement reads that an agreement in principle has been reached with De Zerbi. The club is currently collaborating with all stakeholders to finalize the Italian coach’s and his coaching staff’s arrival, preparing for his arrival in Marseille in the coming days.
According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Marseille will offer De Zerbi a three-year contract.
Previously, Brighton & Hove Albion confirmed his departure at the end of this season. Since taking charge in 2022, he managed 89 games, securing 38 wins, 20 draws, and 31 losses. This season, his team finished 11th in the league. De Zerbi boasts an extensive coaching career, having previously coached Palermo, Benevento, Sassuolo, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Brighton.
Marseille finished the Ligue 1 campaign with 13 wins, 11 draws, and 10 losses, ending the season in 8th place.
