Mirror: The FA Willing to Wait for Guardiola Until Next Year, Hoping He Takes Over England After His City Contract Expires

Mirror: The FA Willing to Wait for Guardiola Until Next Year, Hoping He Takes Over England After His City Contract ExpiresAccording to an exclusive report from the British newspaper Mirror, The Football Association (FA) is willing to wait until next summer when Pep Guardiola’s contract with Manchester City expires before hiring him as the England national team manager.

Guardiola has previously expressed his desire to manage a national team someday, though it is believed that he will not take over the Spanish national team. Former England player Jermaine Jenas suggested that only four teams could potentially interest Guardiola, saying, “One day, Guardiola will manage a national team, but only Brazil, Portugal, England, and Germany are in his consideration.”

However, several coaches are already in contention for the England manager position, including Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, former Chelsea manager Graham Potter, and England youth coach Lee Carsley. Nevertheless, Jermaine Jenas believes that Potter would be the best fit for England, “He is very innovative and can play in a style that British fans love.”

Although The FA is considering waiting for Guardiola to become the next permanent manager of England, Jermaine Jenas thinks there should be no “interregnum” for the England manager position, “They (The FA) have a difficult choice ahead of them, and they may deliberate for some time, but in my view, they should appoint a manager right away so the team can get up and running and see where their level stands.”
