On June 20th, in the second round of Group A of the European Championship, Germany comfortably defeated Hungary 2-0, securing their advancement to the Round of 16 with two consecutive victories. After the match, Germany’s head coach Julian Nagelsmann offered his analysis, stating that the victory was not easy and that there won’t be significant changes for the final group game against Switzerland.
Despite Germany’s triumph over Hungary, Nagelsmann expressed concerns about the match: “We gave our opponents too many set-piece opportunities, which made the game very tense at times. Fortunately, in the second half, we regained control of the pace, utilized quick passes to open up spaces on the field, and scored our second goal to prevent a comeback from the opposition.”
Although Germany has already qualified for the next round, Nagelsmann emphasized that they will not take it easy against Switzerland: “We want to finish first in the group, and that is our most pressing objective. There won’t be any dramatic changes like rotating seven players; I can rule out such a possibility.”
