According to multiple recent reports, young sensation Sestko from RB Leipzig has turned down approaches from English clubs Arsenal and Chelsea. Today, Neville shed light on the reasoning behind the decision in an interview.
Neville believes that many clubs, especially in the Premier League, currently favor traditional center-forwards, making it understandable why Sestko is attracting interest. However, staying in the Bundesliga for another year will benefit his future: “With his goalscoring ability, youth, and physical attributes, I think we’re seeing a return to the era of the classic number 9, and Sestko has great potential. You can see why the Premier League clubs want him, but choosing to stay at Leipzig for another season means he won’t be under as much scrutiny. This can be advantageous for his development.”
Last season, Sestko scored 18 goals for RB Leipzig, displaying exceptional attacking prowess. He also earned a spot in the Slovenian national team for the European Championships. In the early hours of today, Sestko’s Slovenia drew 1-1 with Denmark in their Euro group match.
