On July 12, Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt officially announced that the 40-year-old Makoto Hasebe will join the club’s U21 youth team coaching staff, completing his transition from player to coach.
Makoto Hasebe announced the end of his playing career this summer. Since joining Eintracht Frankfurt in 2014, he has made 304 appearances for this Bundesliga powerhouse across various competitions. He was a mainstay in Frankfurt’s midfield and defense over the past decade and is also the Asian player with the most appearances in the Bundesliga.
Now, Makoto Hasebe’s connection with Eintracht Frankfurt has not come to an end. The club officially announced that Hasebe has signed with the team again and will serve as an assistant coach for the U21 squad. This will be the first time the former captain of the Japanese national team takes on a coaching role in his career.
