On July 12, according to an official release from A-League club Melbourne Victory, their youth academy coach Joe Palatsides has left the team to seek opportunities overseas.
The official statement read that Melbourne Victory can confirm its head of the youth academy, Joe Palatsides, will depart the club to take up a coaching opportunity at a major European club. After being appointed in 2021, Palatsides took charge of the Melbourne Victory youth academy, overseeing all age groups and senior youth teams.
Melbourne Victory’s Football Director, Ante Dujica, thanked Palatsides for his contributions to the academy over the past three years.
Dujica said, “Joe has left the academy, and we are immensely proud of this move, which will allow us to continue nurturing academy players into our first team. Overall, we are steadfast in our efforts to ensure the academy is reputable and producing players for the first team. During Joe’s tenure over the last three years, we have seen Franco Lino move to Europe, and eight academy players are about to start pre-season as contracted first-team male players, having excelled within the academy.”
Former Melbourne Victory assistant coach, Luciano Trani, will temporarily take over Palatsides’ position.
