On October 4, the Korean Football Association (KFA) announced that top star Son Heung-min has withdrawn from the new squad list due to an injury.
Son Heung-min suffered a left thigh injury during the Europa League match against Qarabag on September 26 and subsequently missed two games against Manchester United and Ferencváros due to this injury.
The squad list announced by the KFA on September 30 originally included Son Heung-min’s name. However, after an assessment, the coaching staff ultimately decided to allow Son Heung-min to focus on his recovery and called up Hong Hyun-hyuk, who plays for Mainz, as a replacement.
