J2 League club Yamaguchi F.C. has officially announced that their legendary goalkeeper, Seki Kenataro, will retire at the end of this season.
The 38-year-old Seki Kenataro, a product of the Sendai Venus youth academy, served the team for 13 seasons. In 2021, after his contract with Sendai Venus expired, Seki transferred to Yamaguchi F.C., where he has been playing ever since.
Throughout his career, Seki Kenataro has made nearly 300 appearances in both J1 and J2 leagues combined. This season, he continued to be the first-choice goalkeeper, making 31 league appearances for Yamaguchi F.C. and helping the team achieve its best performance in recent years.
