On July 12th, according to Marca, former Barcelona player and current Lazio player Pedro recently spoke about his old club.
Pedro Rodriguez played for the first team of FC Barcelona from 2009 to 2015. He explained to Gerard Romero the reasons for his departure from Barça.
Recalling his successful time at Barcelona, Pedro said, “It was an incredible moment for me. Playing alongside Messi, Xavi, and Andrés (Iniesta)… they also made it possible for me to score in all competitions. I am honored to have experienced so many unique moments in my career.”
“However, I was just one goal short of the century mark at Barcelona. When I left Barça, I always felt there was a thorn in my side, unable to complete this story,” said Pedro.
Pedro added, “Leaving Barça was difficult because it was the club of my life, where I spent many years. I scored 99 goals for Barça. When Xavi became the coach, I told him that I would take the next penalty kick to reach the century mark before leaving.”
The Spanish player joined Barcelona U19 from Tenerife at the age of 17. He moved to Chelsea in 2015. He contributed to 23 titles for Barcelona, including three Champions League trophies, three UEFA Super Cups, five La Liga titles, and more.
