Prior to this, Chinese swimmer Pan Zhanle won the gold medal in the men’s 100m freestyle final at the Paris Olympics with a time of 46.4 seconds, breaking the world record. American swimming legend Michael Phelps commented that Pan Zhanle’s performance was unbelievable.
Phelps said, “To win the 100m freestyle by more than a one-second margin is just unbelievable to me. In my career, I’ve never seen such a big lead in this event. 46.4 seconds, that’s unheard of.”
