Ping-Pong Men’s Singles Bronze Medal Match: Lebren Sweeps Kaldrano to Secure Third Place

On August 4, the Paris Olympic Games’ ping-pong men’s singles event entered its final day. In the bronze medal match that took place first, French player F. Lebren faced off against Brazilian player Kaldrano.

In the first set, the two players traded points from the start. After leveling at 4-4, Lebren made adjustments and won four consecutive points to gain an advantage. He secured a set point at 10-6 and immediately converted it, winning the first set 11-6.

In the second set, Lebren quickly took a 5-2 lead and maintained it throughout. After Kaldrano closed the gap to 9-8, Lebren called for a timeout. However, after the timeout, he continued to lose points. Kaldrano surpassed Lebren with a set point at 10-9, but Lebren saved the set point and scored two more points in a row, securing the set victory at 12-10.

In the third set, after Kaldrano led 5-2, he was unable to suppress Lebren, who then overtook him at 7-6, forcing Kaldrano to call a timeout. Lebren continued to gain momentum, taking a 10-7 lead and converting his set point immediately, winning the set 11-7 and leading the match 3-0.

In the fourth set, after leveling at 2-2, Lebren increased his efforts, winning three consecutive points and never letting his lead fall below two points thereafter. After securing a match point at 10-5, he converted his second match point, sweeping his opponent 4-0 to win the bronze medal.
