According to Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã, Liverpool views Sporting CP center-back Tiago Inácio as their top target for strengthening their defense and plans to submit an offer exceeding €30 million to Sporting CP soon.
Sporting CP has not ruled out the possibility of a potential deal. Although they initially demanded a release clause of €60 million for Inácio, they are now willing to start negotiations at around €45 million.
The player himself is currently on vacation after representing Portugal in the European Championship and is expected to rejoin the team next week. Manchester United was also one of the clubs interested in the 23-year-old center-back but ultimately opted for the 18-year-old French player, Yoro.
Following Inácio’s departure, Sporting CP will still have several options for their defensive line: Eduardo Quaresma, Diomandé, Santiáñez, Mathieu Reis, João Moutinho, and new signing Debaster.
In this transfer window, Sporting CP has already lost Luis Neto (contract expiration) and captain Coates, who moved to Nacional de Montevideo due to family reasons.
