In the Copa América opener, they lost 0-2 to defending champions Argentina due to a gap in quality. For Canada, securing a second-place finish in the group is a more realistic objective.

According to Transfermarkt, Canada boasts Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich) and Jonathan David (Lille), both valued at €50 million, which exceeds the total team value of Peru (€33.48 million). Star power-wise, Canada clearly surpasses Peru. This Copa América presents an opportunity for Canada to continue gaining experience, aiming to bear fruit in the upcoming 2026 World Cup co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Peru will be without Cucho Hernández and Bryan Reynolds due to injuries, while Canada enters the match with a full-strength squad.

The two nations have only faced each other once before, back in 2010, when Peru comfortably defeated Canada 2-0.
