According to reports from British media outlet The Mirror, Rashford, who was caught speeding last December, has been sentenced to a six-month driving ban and fined £1,666.
The court found that Rashford was driving a Rolls Royce at excessive speeds on the M60 motorway last December. His actions were spotted by an unmarked white police car. Rashford was then charged, but the Manchester United forward claimed he suspected he was being followed by a white car, which led to his speeding.
However, the police stated that they reviewed footage before and after Rashford was caught speeding and found no evidence of a white car following him. As a result, Rashford had to admit to his speeding offense.
In the end, Rashford received a six-month driving ban. In addition, he must pay a victim surcharge of £666 and court costs totaling £120.
Despite the final determination of his speeding offense, it did not affect Rashford’s preparation. Not selected for England’s Euro campaign, Rashford participated throughout Manchester United’s pre-season preparations. He featured in the lineup for their 0-1 loss against Norwegian side Rosenborg. Up next, United will play a friendly against Rangers, then travel to the U.S. for further preparations, followed by the Community Shield match against Manchester City and the start of the new Premier League season.
