The appointment of the new England manager remains unresolved, and today, Harry Redknapp, the renowned Premier League manager who once coached Eddie Howe at Portsmouth, told talkSPORT that he believes Howe has a strong chance of becoming the next England manager.
Redknapp said, “It’s a good fit for Howe. I think he will ultimately get the job, and I’d like to see an Englishman in the role. It would be a tough decision for him because he’s doing fantastically well at Newcastle. He’s someone who likes to follow the rules, and I know him well, having been his coach.”
“I’ve been following him closely, and we even discussed club management issues a few days ago. Perhaps there are some differences with Newcastle now. He lives just two minutes away from me, so becoming the England manager would feel like coming home to him, and it’s also a great job. Managing your national team is something no coach can easily turn down.”
“So I think if England invites him, he would struggle to say no. As for Gerrard and Lampard, their chances of being interviewed are slim as they haven’t achieved significant success in their managerial careers.”
