Previously, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the sale of broadcasting rights for the Club World Cup had been very poor, with half of the countries worldwide still without any bids from broadcasters. Additionally, the event organizers had not yet announced the schedule or the host cities, raising concerns about the future of the tournament.

Tariq Panja commented on Twitter: “This is a significant defeat for FIFA, but more critically, the initial tendering process for broadcast rights was severely delayed, followed by the embarrassing situation of no one bidding, which undoubtedly exposes another layer of problems.”

“The Club World Cup will still take place, and the host cities and stadiums will be announced this weekend. If everything goes smoothly, FIFA could present a detailed plan, coordinate well with clubs and players, and even make it a fantastic tournament. However, at the moment, FIFA has created quite a mess.”
