In the second round of Group E at the European Championship, Romania lost 0-2 to Belgium. After the match, Romania’s coach Eduard Idenescu attended the press conference.
Idenescu said, “It was a great game, we tried to compete with our opponents and gave our all. I want to congratulate my players for their efforts. And I also want to thank the many fans who came to support us.”
“We made some mistakes at the start of the match, and conceding that early goal hit us hard. We had a Plan B, but it’s tough against a team ranked third in the world. We were a bit unlucky. In the second half, we regained our composure, played more proactively, created some chances, and we actually competed with this excellent team. I believe if we had been a bit more focused, we could have had a different outcome. We had three or four clear scoring opportunities: Dragos, Denis Man, Latiu, and Mihaila all had their chances.”
“This is the toughest group, but we are currently topping it, and now we can only rely on ourselves. What frustrates me the most is the second goal because we didn’t know how to prevent it. Now is the time to see how strong we are and how we will overcome this moment. It’s crucial that the fans continue to support the team, as only together can we move forward. We need to maintain a positive attitude, as we knew before the match that we could lose such encounters.”
