According to Reuters, Romanian goalkeeper Nita spoke to the news agency ahead of their quarter-final match against the Netherlands. He stated that Romania is prepared for a penalty shootout, but he prefers his teammates to settle the game within the 90 minutes.
In the interview, Nita commented, “I am ready for penalties, but it’s not what I wish for. On the contrary, I would rather see my teammates finish the job in 90 minutes. I believe they can do it. It will be a tough match, but if we follow the coach’s plan and make the right decisions, I hope we can achieve a good result. We must be like a solid yellow wall, united. If we do that, we’ll succeed.”
Speaking about the Dutch team, Nita said, “The Netherlands has many excellent players playing at the top level, a strength we cannot match. However, by leveraging our teamwork, we can overcome this disadvantage.”
Regarding the team spirit, he shared, “I am good friends with the other two goalkeepers in the squad. Qualifying for the Euros is thanks to Moldova’s efforts. We are a team, getting along well, always supporting each other. I only found out I was starting just before the match. We’ve made history here, but I don’t want it to end here. After facing the Netherlands, I hope we’ll have even greater joy.”
When asked about the most emotional moment of the tournament, he replied, “After every match, I hug my wife and children, and they always tell me they’re proud of me and that they love me. Those moments mean a lot.”
