On July 26, Shandong Taishan released an announcement stating that head coach Choi Kang-hee had returned to South Korea for a medical checkup due to health reasons.
The announcement reads as follows:
“Due to feeling unwell, our head coach Choi Kang-hee recently went back to South Korea for a checkup and treatment. Based on the results of the checkup, doctors have advised Coach Choi to continue observing and treating his condition over the next two weeks. During this period, assistant coach Kim Hyun-min will lead the team in training and matches.”
“We wish Coach Choi a speedy recovery and a quick return to the team!”
According to the schedule, Choi Kang-hee may not be able to command the team in person for the away match against Henan and the home game against Shanghai Port but is expected to make a comeback during the away match against Cangzhou Mighty Lions.
