On July 26, former national women’s team head coach Shui Qingxia officially signed with Changchun Mass Transcendence FC Women’s Club yesterday. She will lead the team in the Women’s Super League. After becoming the team’s head coach, Shui Qingxia also spoke to the media about her coaching goals.
Regarding coaching Changchun FC Women’s Team, Shui Qingxia said, “I will spare no effort and work closely with the club management, coaching staff, and all players to contribute my own strength to Changchun FC Women’s Team. Changchun has a good football atmosphere and is a ‘double-super’ city with both men’s and women’s teams. There are many enthusiastic fans, and I hope that Changchun FC Women’s Team matches can attract more young girls to enter the ‘football pitch’ and take up football.”
Shui Qingxia is currently 58 years old and became the head coach of China’s women’s national team in 2021. During her tenure, she led the team to win the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup. Due to China’s women’s team failing to qualify for the Paris Olympics, Shui Qingxia stepped down as head coach of the national team in November 2023.
Changchun Mass Transcendence FC Women’s Team is currently competing in the Chinese Women’s Super League. After 12 rounds, the team has remained undefeated with 7 wins and 5 draws, accumulating 26 points and ranking third in the league table.
