When Juventus and Szczesny terminated their contract, they signed a special agreement stipulating that if Szczesny joins another team within the specified time frame, he must refund part of the severance fee to Juventus. Specifically, if Szczesny returns to play for another club by the end of June 2025, he will waive 2 million euros out of the originally agreed 6 million euros in severance fees.

Szczesny’s addition to Barcelona comes as a timely reinforcement, given that their main goalkeeper Ter Stegen will be out for an extended period due to injury. Szczesny’s extensive experience will contribute to stability in Barcelona’s goalkeeping position.
