Spanish Media: Barcelona President Angry Over Refereeing Decisions in Real Madrid Match, Believes in Double Standards

According to reports, when faced with media inquiries regarding the refereeing decisions in a match involving Real Madrid, Barcelona’s president Joan Laporta chose to remain silent. However, according to reports by Channel Six, he firmly believes that there are double standards benefiting Real Madrid.

On Wednesday, the decisions made by Muniz Ruiz during Real Madrid’s match against Alaves sparked controversy. Channel Six revealed that Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, was extremely dissatisfied, believing that the refereeing was biased.

Before dining with Getafe executives, reporters asked Laporta several questions about the previous day’s game, including the use of VAR and whether certain decisions should have resulted in red cards. In response to these sensitive topics, Laporta simply replied, “We’ll talk later…” before entering the restaurant without further comment.

Despite this, the program on Channel Six noted that Laporta privately expressed strong dissatisfaction with the fairness of the refereeing decisions but chose to remain silent to avoid escalating the situation.

In the match officiated by Muniz Ruiz, there were indeed controversial decisions. Among them, the Alaves coach was most dissatisfied with the yellow card given to Endrick, believing it should have been a red card, which would have left Real Madrid playing with ten men in the final stages of the game. After the match, Luis Garcia directly expressed his displeasure to Real Madrid’s head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

In fact, ten days earlier, before the match against Girona, Laporta had already indirectly expressed his dissatisfaction with the refereeing. This was in response to the main referee Martinez Munuera awarding two penalties to Real Madrid during the game. At a management luncheon where Laporta wore a suit paired with casual sneakers, he said, “For the penalty kicks, two penalty kicks.” Although his tone was light-hearted, it was clear that he had reservations about the referee’s decision.
