Spanish Media: Flick Has Informed Gundogan He Is Not Part of the Starting Lineup for the New Season; Barcelona Hopes He Leaves Soon

According to a report by the Spanish newspaper AS, Barcelona coach Flick has not included midfielder Gundogan in his plans for the new season, believing that he does not fit into his tactical system. To avoid leaks and any negative impact on the player, Flick directly communicated with Gundogan, honestly expressing this decision.

Flick hopes the team will adopt a quick-attack style rather than the traditional possession-based approach. For this reason, he prefers using Olmo, Firim, and awaiting the return from injury of Gavi. Flick clearly told Gundogan that in the new tactical system, he would not be considered as a starter. Additionally, Flick realizes that Lewandowski and Gundogan are unlikely to form a core pressing combination up front. Although he has set strict requirements for Lewandowski, considering the Polish striker’s goal-scoring efficiency and the background of his agent Pini Zahavi (who is also a friend of club president Laporta), Lewandowski’s position remains relatively stable, making Gundogan part of the tactical adjustment.
