On August 27, according to the Spanish media outlet Relevo, a total of 850 refereeing decisions have been corrected by VAR in La Liga over the past six seasons, which is quite a staggering number.
Among the referees, Jesús Mansano has had the most decisions corrected by VAR, with a total of 63 corrections. This includes 19 valid goals that were disallowed by VAR, 10 invalid goals that were validated by VAR, 15 missed penalty calls identified by VAR, 9 awarded penalties that were overturned by VAR, 7 missed red cards pointed out by VAR, and 1 red card decision that was overturned by VAR. This makes Jesús Mansano’s reliance on VAR far greater than that of other referees.
According to statistics from Spanish media, there are five referees who have had more than 40 decisions corrected by VAR, the others being Munuera Montero (48 times), Burgos Bengoechea (43 times), Hernández (40 times), and Martínez Sánchez (40 times).
