According to the latest report by Spanish media outlet Relevo, several high-ranking officials and players at Real Madrid have expressed dissatisfaction with head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s tactical choices and squad selections in the early stages of the season. While Ancelotti is not solely responsible for the team’s subpar performance, Real Madrid management firmly believes his missteps are a primary cause.
In their recent Champions League match, Real Madrid suffered a 0-1 loss against Lille, which is considered the worst performance of the team this season so far. Despite having a star-studded lineup under Ancelotti, “Los Blancos” seem to be performing less impressively than last season. This disparity has left Real Madrid’s upper echelon feeling very disappointed.
“Ancelotti has a locker room full of all-stars, and expectations were high that the team would excel this season and play even better football than last year,” noted an insider close to Real Madrid.
With the addition of Mbappé and Endrick, Real Madrid theoretically possesses stronger attacking power than last season. However, the actual performance at the start of the season has fallen short of expectations. There are also voices within the locker room suggesting that Ancelotti favors Mbappé and Endrick too much, leading to an imbalance in the team’s overall style of play, as both new signings have relatively limited defensive capabilities.
Currently, Ancelotti is facing immense pressure, particularly given Real Madrid’s three-point deficit behind league leaders Barcelona in La Liga. This situation could potentially affect his future at the Bernabéu.
Although Ancelotti himself is unwilling to leave and hopes to continue working with the club beyond the expiration of his current contract in the summer of 2026, if the team fails to meet expectations, Real Madrid management may consider terminating his contract next summer.
