According to Sport, Julian Nagelsmann might opt to retain Lenglet in the squad.
Following consecutive loan spells at Tottenham and Aston Villa, Lenglet was recommended by Barcelona to several teams in Saudi Arabia, La Liga, and Ligue 1 this summer. With two years remaining on his contract with Barcelona, his performance in pre-season games and his experience have caught Nagelsmann’s attention.
Lenglet put in an impressive display during the pre-season match against Manchester City. He is the captain of a young team and leads a defense lacking regular starters. Within hours, he was linked with Atlético Madrid, who are searching for a left-footed central defender following Hermoso’s departure. Barcelona confirmed that Atlético do indeed have an interest in Lenglet, but their transfer proposal is far from reaching an agreement. However, Atlético have already signed Real Sociedad’s center-back, Le Normand.
In recent days, Lenglet has been working under Nagelsmann’s guidance, who appreciates his training approach. Nevertheless, Barcelona’s management is reluctant to retain a high-earning regular substitute.
