Sun: Slot Refuses to Move into Klopp's Former Residence, Liverpool Decides to Sell to Recoup Funds

According to The Sun, Liverpool has put up for sale a £4 million property previously owned by Jürgen Klopp, after his successor, Dennis Slot, declined the property.

The Dutch coach and his wife, Mirjam, visited the seven-bedroom residence but are still considering their next move. The club has now listed the gated property for sale, ending a 20-year association with it.

A source said, “The club identified this property as an ideal base for the new manager. Slot was offered the property when he took over in the summer, but he chose to live elsewhere. Therefore, the club decided to cut its losses and sell it.”

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard bought the property in Formby, Merseyside, in 2005, which was built by a local developer. The property features three living rooms, a games room, a swimming pool, a two-story gym, a sunroom, a hot tub, a sauna, and a cinema.

When Gerrard moved to MLS team LA Galaxy in 2015, he sold the house to then-incoming Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers. Rodgers was sacked in October of that year, but he retained the property and rented it to Klopp.

In 2019, Liverpool FC purchased the property as an investment, reportedly allowing the 57-year-old Klopp to live there rent-free. The German coach and his wife Ulla were often seen at local pubs. After announcing his resignation, he and his wife moved out of their current residence.
